Discernment

Discernment is a process about pursuing what we call a “vocation.” The Catholic Church recognizes four distinct vocations in which a person can become holy and truly alive:

    1. single life
    2. married life
    3. consecrated life (brother or sister)
    4. priestly life

There is no perfect sign that God is calling you to be a priest, brother or sister. A religious vocation is a life journey of faith and trust. Listen discernmentto your heart. If you feel being a priest or a brother someday brings you joy, then you should pursue this desire not tomorrow, next week or next year, but today.

To find out more about Vincentian priests and brothers, men who champion the needs of the poor in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, visit our vocational website or contact our vocation director, Fr. Astor Rodriguez, CM, who can help you grow in your discernment of this spiritual journey.
